ghoulsblade, you beat me to it! :)
We have a new forum for you guys, linked by ghoulsblade. It's no longer on a mass-free-forum host so data loss and downtime is not expected as with the previous host. _________________ Free Gamer - compendium & commentary on Free Software gaming

|

Ok, boys and girls. The core issues seem to be fixed now (many thanks to jim4 for all his effort) and Pingus is now playable under SDL, there are however still a few bugs left. So here comes a little job for wanna-be beta testers:
First, grab yourself a copy of Pingus 0.6, available either from SVN, at:
svn co svn://svn.berlios.de/pingus/branches/pingus_0_6
or maybe if you are lucky from your favorite distribution. You also need Clanlib0.6 to compile that.
Secondly, grab yourself a copy of the SDL branch, available at:
svn co svn://svn.berlios.de/pingus/branches/pingus_sdl
Third, play Pingus 0.6 and Pingus SDL side by side and compare every little difference you can find, focus only on the levels for now, since the menus in Pingus SDL are obviously unfinished.
And finally report every little bug or difference you can find to the bug tracker:

| As of last night, the SDL port seems to be just about as feature-complete as the ClanLib version. There are a few small bugs left, such as having scalable background textures for other resolutions, some font warnings to iron out, and the editor needs to be finished and modified to use the new file format. But, overall, it's very playable now. |

| Just as a little reminder: We are still looking for beta testers, see the instructions in my previous post on information on how to obtain Pingus. |

Little status update:
The list of TODO items is getting smaller and smaller, things that still need to be done is a little polish and integration/testing of other languages. Another very important issue is the level conversion, since Pingus0.6 the file format for levels changed twice, so there is a certain risk that things got broken in the conversation and this needs quite a bit testing. What makes this tricky is that a lot of the non-maingame levels (all those that you can start only via command line) are a little bit of broken by design, so just because something looks wrong, doesn't mean the converter was wrong. For this it helps to have Pingus0.6 and PingusSDL running side by side.
So again, if anybody is interested in testing, join IRC (#pingus, irc.freenode.net) if you need more instructions. |

| Language Support is now integrated back again and the .po files are updated. It would be nice if somebody could check them for spelling mistakes and the like. Also we have a Swedish translation that is incomplete, would be nice if somebody could complete it. |

The last known bug has now been ironed out and we are now almost release ready, except for updated README and stuff like that. So if somebody wants to do some testing, they better should get starting real soon.
PS: Simple reports that somebody played it from start to finish without encountering any bugs would also be helpful. |
