Penumbra Some news from games in development:

It seems that the survival horror game Penumbra: Overture is going to be released for Linux. The Windows version is set to be released in early 2007 and the developers plan to port the game in house to MacOS X and Linux. One big feature of the game is its advanced physics engine.

Battle for Wesnoth has reached the first release candidate for it's 1.2 version. Additionally, a new campaign server has been set up to host campaigns compatible with the new release.

The city simulator Open City is in beta for the new 0.0.4 version with the stable expected "soon".

LBreakout also offers a new beta that provides a french localization to the game.

Funny, I've just recently tried playing the original version with wine (graphical errors ruined the atmosphere though) I'm excited that they're releasing a native Linux version this time!

this game(s) is(/are) going to be great. it appears that the current windows-only "technology demo" they have on their homepage has reached a state at which it can at least run and play on linux (there are screenshots on the website(frictionalgames.com)) i'm looking forward to trying out the "technology demo" as a native linux program and ofc. buying one or all three of the final games they are going to produce.

I've already played the Tech Demo of Penumbra: Overture, and I have to say I'm impressed with the game play, and style. It needs a little polishing, and detail, but it's amazing for a tech demo. This is a game I'm going to be picking up. I thought the interaction you have with objects in your environment is amazing. Also the fact that the AI is smart enough to try to bash threw a door you've barricaded to protect your self is amazing. This will be a good, if not great game.
