AngsTRON

AngsTRON Screenshot Motorcycle arena dueling game

This game is about two motorcycles (sometimes robots) who duel trying to enclose each other in their trails. Its like Armagetron Advanced and glTron, both games inspired in the lightcycles scene from the Movie Tron.

There are, actually some differences between Angstron and those games. Angstron is not set in TRON or anything like that, but in its own fictional universe and you have different levels. Its more like glTron meets Mortal Kombat, as you have one-on-one duels on different arenas.

The graphics might not look astounding, but its because it uses software rendering. The game is actually meant for mobile linux devices, like the Nokia Internet Tablets, the linux smartphones and the new subnotebooks coming (In fact , there is a Nokia 770 and a EeePC package available)

License: free

Additional System Requirements: the game is actually very flexible and requires little memory to run. Specially good for older machines. Requires free 16 MB of RAM to run and ~5 MB of disk, X11 running on 16 BPP and at least 800x600 (runs nativelly on 800x480)

Sound: Play in X: Play in Console: Multiplayer: Network Play: 3D Acceleration: Source Available:

The ubuntu package .zip is corrupted.
Where can I get the source?
Does it use opengl, or sdl rendering?
Is there any way to run it on 320x240?

Also, for the author:
WTF did you zip the .deb for? Those are already compressed!

Well, the ubuntu package from the author's page is called 'angstron099.zip'.
Also, I would like to get the source code, because I don't use ubuntu.
I know the minimal requirements are 800x600, but I have linux based palmtop, and it's resolution is 640x240.
It states that the game aims for mobile devices. Unfortunately most of them run on 320x240 res.

It's actually a deb file, but with the zip extension. Don't ask me why.
file angstron099.zip
angstron099.zip: Debian binary package (format 2.0)

Here's the author writing: Sorry about it the package problems. The game was meant originaly for Maemo devices , like the 770. The source is available at the sf.net link on the game page. To spare you from the problems: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/bzk I dont know if it still compile right "out-of-the-box", as I use this game engine for other games and I dont recompile it very often. But yes, the game uses software rendering (I wrote it myself) and can be configured to run on any resolution (but the menu and the gameover and victory screens wont fit the screen). About the zipped package, its becouse I experienced some issues uploading the package as a .deb, so I had to rename it. If you want a customized version , I would be very happy to make it work for you. Specially for embedded linux ;-) , So please, contact me
