Battles Of Antargis Screenshot Open-source medieval Realtime-strategy game

Battles Of Antargis is an open-source game with GPL license. You have one or more heroes that you can control. They can recruit troops and conquer the world. While doing this they have to gather food and weapons. All around are people and animals which populate the world.

Unlike the typical Warcraft-like games, you have to get by with the existing population and resources.

This game is still in its development phase, so please be patient. Apart from this we are constantly searching for new artists and developers. Get in touch with us at our forums!

Crash in Win32 binary posted by Anonymous @ 72.94.11.52 on Mar 2 2008 4:12 PM
To the developer: The application seems to crash whenever a map is loaded, whether it's campaign or single map. The first menus work fine though. My system has a Core 2 Duo and an Intel GMA 950 graphics chip.

Hi! Please remove line 71 of the file "Rakefile". This should help.

Sorry, submitted too early. Please add such lines to your configure-file:
$CFLAGS+=" -I/usr/X11R6/include"
$LDFLAGS+=" -L/usr/X11R6/lib"
and put them after(!) "require 'buildtools.rb'".

  Good game ... looks promising posted by Draconishinobi @ 209.30.243.144 on May 20 2006 10:19 AM 55555
It's easy to compile, it works great so far, and it looks promising. I think it's much better than glest, cuz glest has problems, lots of them. Or maybe it's just me that has a problem with glest ?

Binary worked for me with glest. My problem was, there wasn't any point in playing the game after you beat it once. Maybe this will get multiplayer?

Gotta say the only problems encountered by me on Glest, was the often mentioned ati-open-source graphics bug that was fixed in the last mesa version, and I'm not sure its glests fault

Although seriously although I don't think there is anything wrong with mentioning similar projects, its a bit silly to just point vaugely in the direction of the forums, esp when they have added exciting things like scenarios...and not multi-player.

There are some nice high-quality aspects to the game. Not really much to play yet, though I'm not complaining.
I just tried playing the tutorial through again after it crashed on me after maybe 15 minutes of play yesterday. This time it crashed before I finished the first island. Here's an excerpt from the end of the console output, it your interested:

Please report bugs here: Bug reporting in Antargis' forum This way we can better keep track of them.
Apart from this we are working on these segfaults, that origin in Ruby's garbage collector. This will surely be done in the next release (0.1.2), which will soon be done.

  Powermonger-like ? posted by Anonymous @ 193.49.124.107 on Apr 18 2006 6:50 AM
If I'm not mistaken, the description looks a lot like the game Powermonger, although it is not mentionned neither here or on the website. Looking forward to playing that game!

Yes, you're right there. I didn't mention it, because there are few people, who actually know it nowadays. But the stress lies on story and later multiplayer. So it won't be just working down the map. We're currently gathering ideas for improvements on the gameplay.
