Cuyo is a Tetris-style puzzle game for up to two players. The player controls falling blocks of various types which change with each level. For example, in the first level, the player has to connect differently colored cartoon faces to each other. When enough blocks of the same type are connected, they explode. Usually the level goal is to destroy a certain number of special blocks at the bottom of the screen; these special blocks explode when blocks adjacent to them explode (in some levels, only when this is accomplished through a chain reaction). Some of the more complex levels have
The game graphics and animations, while simple, are part of the player's motivation, since they change with each level. The constantly changing requirements make Cuyo different from Tetris, where the main variation over time is speed and scoring.

| Anyone know if there is a repository for more levels or is anybody making new ones? I've made a few levels for this game because it is soooo addictive and I have finished all of the levels that come with it! | |||

| Great game ! Very addictive, even if some levels are, so to say, "weird"... and I'm only on to the 15th level in a "Standard" track. I'm looking forward to riding the weird track, but a little apprehensive with regard to all the time I'm going to spend not doing something productive. :) Keep up the spirit ! Many thanks. | |||

| It's like PuyoPuyo, but... posted by Anonymous @ 203.205.84.125 on Oct 1 2005 5:01 AM | |||
| This game is very similar to japanese great game "PuyoPuyo" (http://www.3d-ages.co.jp/12puyo/), but this one has a superfluous feature. That is, when a human plays with computer, suddenly the lowest row of the field of human sadly gets sent to the computer's one. This completely breaks an long-awaited arrangement for a big "chain-reaction". And I also dislike the feature that exploding only 4 faces precipitates 2 faces to another field. Too many. 1 face is sufficient. | |||

I was completely addicted to this game for about six months a few years ago. It is an incredibly interesting and varied tetris derivative with some very amusing graphics and styles. I got stuck on the arrow level for ages until I finally got my brain around it. Overall its just very fun, well written and entertaining. If you liked Dr. Mario or Jewels or other "connect to eliminate" tetris-likes, this game is for you. |
