I managed to get this working on my Radeon 9200 card by taking the libGL.so files from the Legacy fglrx driver and placing it in the Doom 3 directory. It runs well through Window Maker, better than on Windows (but to be fair I have upgraded my card since then). Should try getting the full version.

Hmm, trying to set/change s_useOpenAL gives "openAL not supported on this platform". There's a separate option for EAX that does the same. Not sure why OpenAL would not be supported in linux...

Hi, I made an install script for the french version. You will need the zpak000.pk4 file (on the Doom 3 first CD). The script can be found here. Share it ! --- Pour ceux qui sont allergiques à l'anglais, j'ai écrit un script qui installe Doom3 en version française. Vous aurez besoin du fichier zpak000.pk4 (sur le premier CD de Doom 3). Le script peut-être trouvé ici. Echangez le !

I don't have Doom 3, but if I were to check my data files in Quake 3, I would look in pak0.pk3 (a zip archive) for the file default.cfg. Good luck tracking down the problem.   [Reply]

I have to learn all over again how to extract the .pk4 files for this new version 1.3, if it is even possible (has anyone succeeded?). The game absolutely requires that speed tweak on my system; I could do it on version 1.1, but now I can't (file version overwrites during the extract messes things up). I've done the C++ lib relocate tweak, but that doesn't gain enough speed (at least it isn't crashing). On the good side, the sound problems are fixed (in my SuSE 9.2). Hilarious handicap: I found out that the game doesn't like my mini ps/2 connected Logitech optical mouse. It asserts itself by unexpectedly rapidly changing and/or firing weapons in a big "spazz" of unpredicatable length. All I had to do to fix this was switch the mouse to a USB port. AMD 3200+ overclocked at 2.332 GHz, MSI 6702 Mobo, Geforce 5200 fx (video card is weak!!), 1 GB PC 2700 ram.
