Enigma Screenshot Locate and uncover matching pairs of stones

In Enigma, your objective is to locate and uncover matching pairs of Oxyd stones. Simple as it sounds, this task is made more difficult by the fact that Oxyd stones tend to be hidden, inaccessible or protected by unexpected traps. Overcoming these obstacles often requires al lot of dexterity and wit (and can be quite addictive).

Enigma claims to be a puzzle game, but it is also a mouse dexterity challenge. Some levels are are more puzzle oriented, some require incredible hand-eye coordination, and some are both. You can pick and choose any level, and there are hundreds of them to choose from. Even if you don't like puzzle games, there are tons of levels for you. There some elements of old 2d console and computer games such as Marble Madness, Chip's Challenge, and old RPGs. You basically have to roll a marble over different surfaces which have different effects on mouse acceleration and activate switches, open doors, etc.

At first: have you ever tried to play this with a touchpad? At second: I find it quite annoying when the gameplay consists of learning finely graded movement of the mouse, and it's over. Brrr. Dull.

I haven't played the most recent version of this, but I wasn't hugely impressed. This was largely because the description of the game, that I read, indicated that it was a puzzle game. I guess it is, but it also seems to have a very large manual dexterity component which I found frustrating. If I wanted to roll more balls around a maze, I would play more _Neverball_.

I curse the sods that have reached next to impossible world records :)

Seriously though, this game is a classic, better than Oxyd, and I doubt that anyone will ever play through all of the levels, being over a 1000! Maybe some in-game music would add to the atmosphere...?

  Level 39 "Take a breaK" posted by Anonymous @ 150.140.130.66 on Jun 10 2007 6:56 PM
Great game! I am hopelessly stuck on level 39 "take a break" in Oxyd level pack. What does "forget the laser, try using force!" mean?? :) There is nothig to break or move or whatever (except that mirror block with which i can't do very much after breaking the blocks/hitting the switch..) Anyone could give a hint or something please?.. Thanks anyway, the game is really something!

All you have to do is get to the upper screen. The name of the level is another hint, btw...

Yeah? If you're so smart, why don't you tell us the solution?
