JuggleMaster is basically a cross-platform Juggling animator [understands siteswap, for anyone who wants to know what it is]. Anyone who doesn't know what siteswap is can still download it and look at the patterns that come with it, and examine the cool stuff they could do if they did understand it.

Wasn't there a juggler for the Amiga 500 in the 80's with reflecty raytraced balls?

Last time I looked (a couple of months ago) JuggleMaster seemed to be the best juggling sim thing out there. Though I had a java version rather than this version, I don't know how much difference there is. I think it's fair enough to put it on a computer games site, as even though it's not really a computer game it's more a computer game than any other sort of program, and it deserves to be publicised somewhere. On a totally irrelevant note, I go (ish) to the juggling club where the author went, though I don't think I've ever actually met him.

with some improvements (more techniques, more balls) this game should be great.

More Balls? More Techniques?

Uhm...

It supports up to 630 balls, which is as much as the notation itself can use without superimposed balls.

And more techniques? Other than the 6 that come as standard, you can define as many as you please using styles. That's what all of the stuff in the pattern files is. Just go to "choose pattern" in the File menu

I'm also looking at getting the source for arbitrary pattern generators and arbitrary style generators [or write my own]...

I'm always open to feature requests, if you have anything specific in mind...

In fact, I just commited random pattern capabilities to CVS.

In fact the precedent version had less techniques and balls (I had bug when I tried to put many balls).
This new version (CVS) I just have tried is really better. ;)

This is really a cool way to waste time and get nothing accomplished, all the while trying to figure out how a human would be able to actually do this.

i don't know what siteswap is but this looks cool. I wasn't able to test much since i'm supposed to be doing homework, but the menus were either very slow in loading or not loading at all. i might raise it to 5 stars after some more testing. keep it up *thumbs up*

Yeah. I get that on my P133 laptop, too. Looks like the event queue backs up or something. I'm looking at some kind of adaptive timing thing, but in the meantime, make the window a little smaller or use a machine that's less than 15 years old :-)

How does this qualify as a game, or something game related?

Don't worry, you are not among the targeted audience. Move along.

So if I submited an update to the Linux-kernel here, and someone questioned wtf the kernel was doing on an gamingsite that would mean the they suddenly were non-"target audience" for the kernel?

Seriously I saw this application a few days ago, and found it very cool, but not one second did I consider submitting it to hp as I did not think it belong here. Instead of being rude I would have prefered if you had actually explained why this application belongs on a gaming-site... ?

Well, to be honest, I thought that apps like this are exactly why there's a "Toy" category on this site.

It's pointy-clikky, does pretty stuff on the screen.

Oh - and if you don't think it should be announced on a gaming site, where /should/ it be posted?

You are right. Sorry I questioned if this application belonged here; I did not realize that this site had an toys-catagory.

Actually, that would be pretty funny. Linux kernel: The Game! Try to keep patented code out of the kernel before its too late. ;-)
