OpenLieroX Screenshot A real-time, excessive Worms-clone

A game like the famous Liero. Indeed, it is based on the source of LieroX.

Your character is a worm (or similars) and you have to shoot other worms around you. You have an huge arsenal of weapons to do this. You have also a ninja-rope to get fast from one point to another.

The game has an active internet-comunity and an ingame-serverlist, so can easily join other net-games. On the other hand, there are bots available, so you can also play alone.

License: free

Additional System Requirements: Look at the website for more informations. It has no real requirements. Probably you will get more FPS on a faster PC.

Sound: Play in X: Play in Console: Multiplayer: Network Play: 3D Acceleration: Source Available:

  Liero, I think I love you posted by Judebert @ 216.242.143.128 on Mar 26 2010 6:14 PM 55555
I'm so happy to have a new, playable version of Liero. If I'm lucky, it'll be our new multiplayer game on the home network, supplementing Liquid Wars: both are cross-platform for Linux, Mac, and Windows. Everybody can play!

Controls are a little awkward at first, but with an intuitive GUI, easy network play, and fast action, this game is a 5-star winner!

"Game-speed multiplicator"

I think you mean "Game speed multiplier". No hyphen, and with an appropriate suffix.

Aside from that, 5 stars for an awesome game.

Love the game, i was just wondering what people though about this game versus Soldat? How do you think it compares. Trying to explain it to a few friends of mine to get them on board. Keep up the good work people!

Liero (and the clones based on it) can be thought of a real time version of Worms. Soldat is a real-time two dimensional 3rd person shooter with a military theme. Soldat was originally inspired by Liero fyi.

  Gotta love the service posted by tuppe666 @ 77.44.101.210 on Mar 17 2008 11:37 PM 55555
This game is incredibly polished, the AI is too clever for its own good, but I love the service 64bit you can't go wrong with that. I'm beginning to get a feeling that at least some of these Worms/Liero clones+enhancements should be merged or something...Although it has to be said this is perhaps the best.

The settings of your AI (i.e. how intelligent it behaves) have much more effect now. I.e., when you select the dumbest AI, you probably can manage to win against it. But I can make it still a bit dumber if it is still to good. :)

All possible problems with compiling of OLX on 64bit architectures should be fixed. Wait for Beta5 or grab the source from SVN or use Beta3.

Great game. It is also compatible with LieroX Win Servers, i play it online with a friend and it's very funny. Wish they improve the online server lobby.

Hey, glad to see a good game get ported to 'nix.
I'm running Ubuntu, got everything to compile immediately, but I can't find proper data files to play the game. Where can I get these?

I already answered you by mail, but perhaps there or other people with similar problems, so here the answer for everybody: If you use the start.sh script, provided in the game-package, the game should work. In short the searchpath-technic of OpenLieroX: The game searchs by default in 3 paths, that is ~/.OpenLieroX/, ./ and /usr/share/openlierox/ (it does not care about case insensitive names). The start.sh script goes into the dir share/gamedir/ and starts the game (../../bin/openlierox) from there, so that he finds his data in ./ (the current dir). In this directory, a minimal set of the default levels and mods are provided. If you want more (and I recommend this), download the level-/mod-packs from the original homepage http://openlierox.sourceforge.net and extract them into one of the searchpaths (for example ~/.OpenLieroX/). You can set other searchpaths in the configfile ~/.OpenLieroX/cfg/options.cfg.

I am a fan of the original Liero. The gameplay provided by OpenLieroX remains faithful to the original. This game is fast, it is bloody and has all the features of Liero that I wished to have. In my opinion, OpenLieroX is the game that Liero was supposed to be.
