Orbital Eunuchs Sniper Screenshot Protect VIPs by killing bad guys with an orbital laser

The year is 2174, and you have been ordered to function as an orbital sniper. In your world there's just three kinds of people: VIPs, dissidents and normal citizens. VIPs run the world: they must not come to harm. Dissidents must die. If a commoner or two gets wasted in progress, it'll count against you when your post ends. Protect the VIPs by assasinating threats with an orbital laser.

Created by Jari Komppa for the Ludum Dare 48-hour programming competition. Your objective is to eliminate the threats (red) to the VIPs (blue). Try to avoid killing the neutral humans (white).

Note: this screenshot is actually composed of four different shots.

The game is good but it really needs an update. The webpage is old. The code still compiles on newer systems but it needs alot of work.

Fun, but no replayability. posted by Anonymous @ 128.194.44.218 on Feb 2 2003 5:14 PM
Realizing that it was programmed in under 48-hours, I won't criticize too much. It was fun, and I'm impressed that it was done so quickly.

  Addicting but.. posted by Styx @ 130.225.53.16 on Aug 2 2002 11:45 AM 333
This is a new concept, VERY interesting and fun to play, but the lack of variation (perhaps even missions?) drops it a few stars.
It has lots of potential though, work abit on a story perhaps and you'll get the extra stars :)

Storry eh? Have I got a story for you! posted by Anonymous @ 4.42.65.57 on Feb 16 2003 3:41 PM
There I was, spacewalking. I've always spacewalked, yet my predicament was strange... John Glen should realy think about battening-down the hatches before eating our spaghetti, yet that was just a crying, much quieter thought now. After my bowl of spaghetti had been flushed, the emaciator stopped working. I spacewalked outside to unjam it; lo-behold, my spaghettis was waving at me, un scathed, neither touched by poop or baccilium

I had to add --static-libs to the sdl-config in order to build. Otherwise fine.

a --nosound option is coming, in the mean time - try changing #define PLAY_AUDIO to // #define PLAY_AUDIO in snipe2d.h

Dies without a soundcard! posted by billkendri @ 63.101.96.27 on Jul 31 2002 3:22 PM
I just tried running it here at work (no sound card) and it dies cuz it can't init SDL audio. Why not just make sound optional!? :(

Try 'ln -s /dev/null /dev/dsp' if you can do that.
