Runescape Screenshot Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game

Runescape is a massive multiplayer adventure, with monsters to kill, quests to complete, and treasure to win. You control your own character who will improve and become more powerful the more you play. This isn't a game where everything that happens is pre-determined. What you do in the world is up to you!

You can go exploring, or earn a living practicing a craft such as cooking or crafting. Many of the characters in the game can give you quests to go on, each with different rewards. If you are brave you can search for riches in the dungeons or sewers but make sure you are well armed! Try your hand at archery, or learn some magic spells to give yourself an extra advantage.

The game is multiplayer which means you will meet many other people in the world who you communicate and trade with. Make new friends and go adventuring together to stand a better chance against the stronger monsters. Perhaps you want to make your money trading valuable goods with others. Or if you like taking risks, you can choose to fight with like-minded people to try and steal their treasure. There is also an expanded version of this game available for a monthly fee with more quests, monsters, skills, and items. You can still play with your friends on the free version if you like, too!

They should let us rate the game without adding comments or having to register/use "Bug Me Not". Virtually everyone I've talked to in real life that hates the game hasn't seen any of the huge updates the past several years.

...Wow. The whole comments section seems to be full of retards, excuse the language. I thought the Linux Game Tome had a fairly intelligent userbase, so where does all this spam come from?

About the game: can be fun for a while, but its repetitiveness becomes boring. At least, for me it did.

Online RPG games attract this sort of nonsense. Sorry.

The game is full of retards too.

I played for about two weeks on the paying members' servers. I was looking for a casual online game to play. Runescape seemed to fit the bill, and I also liked the slightly humourous vein of the content (reminded me of old school fantasy games like Zork and so on). The new Java 3D client looked good too, and obviously was platform agnostic.

But man the number of times I was insulted for "noob" behaviour and/or equipment (while I was just minding my own business, trying to enjoy the quests and different areas), and the number of times I had low-level mobs killed out from under me by high level characters wandering by, followed by a "lol" -- I'm not paying $6/month for that.

Are all commercial MMORPG's like this, or is it just Runescape?

Next time, put the changelog in the changelog field, not some hoity-toity quest/lore writing. I don't care about some dwarf with his pickaxe machine.

I agree, though if you don't care then the game definitely isn't for you.

...Why would one bother posting this on here if the only updates seem to be world updates, anyway? People would rather like to know what changed in the engine, functioning or bugs, etcetera. At least normally.

I take that back, the whole thing has changed immensely. Are they even using hardware acceleration now?

DO NOT give anyone your Runescape password for ANY reason. Anyone claiming to have a "hack" into Jagex servers for a free members account or give away gold or items if you will send them your password is trying to steal your account from you. Anyone claiming to be a Jagex employee, or be a friend/family member of a Jagex employee, that can get you something for free if you give them your password is lying. There are literally hundreds of jerks (many posting in this forum) that would rather cheat their way into your account than play Runescape. If you have any questions about the honesty of some of the posts on this forum, just check the Runescape website's Safety & Security page.
