The goal in this game is to jump to the next floor so you don't fall down. As you go upper in the Falling Tower the floors will fall faster. Try to survive longer than anyone. It might seem too simple but once you've tried you'll realize how addictive this is.

Hmm... I still think that Icy Tower (through Wine) is more charming. Nice job though.

This is a good game, with cute graphics and nice music, and a simple and addicting gameplay :) I'm not too keen on the sound, and maybe theres too little friction on the floors.

The link to the linux version is broken in the web page (it points to the OSX one), get it here: http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/gnujump/sdljump-1.0.0.tar.gz

Very nice made & adictive game! Thanks a lot!
A audio switch within the themes would be nice, but not very important :)

Hi, The sounds are by design themables, but as I am not a great sound artist so I set the default one for all themes. I would thank a contribution with new sounds for the rest of themes :-)

Very simple, very addictive, well made game. Great job raskolnikov! It takes about a minute of being like "Jeez these controls are too sensitve, I don't know about this game" until before you know it, your totally hooked, staying up too late trying to get higher and higher. The super-sensitive controls definitely make the game what it is.

  windows version (0.91) posted by Anonymous @ 84.163.39.172 on Jan 26 2006 4:01 AM
Hi! I love this game, but I am having trouble with the Windows version. While running under Linux the platforms are scattered randomly as they should be, while under Windows there is always the same lame regular pattern. A friend of mine got to 180 after playing for only an hour :(. Im having the problem with 2 different Windows XP machines. Is anyone else having this problem? How to fix it?

Hi, I have also noticed that but have no clue of why it happends. I suspect that it is a problem of the windows's implementation of the random number generation algorithm. I'll try to fix it for the next release. If someone knows why this happends and how to solve it, please email me :) Thanx

The problem is this:

int rnd( int range )
{
return ( rand() & 0xffff ) * range / 0xffff ;
}

Why are you ignoring half of the return value?

I had already discovered it but thanks anyways. There is a new version 1.0.0, which of course has that solved (and many other bugs) and adds many new features. I hope you like it.

  Xjump/Falling Tower posted by Anonymous @ 82.182.103.87 on Jan 23 2006 1:49 PM
I love the original xjump. When I saw this I was first very happy, I've always wanted to play multiplayer with someone. I applied all the xjump options, but it's was still far from the real thing. I think the acceleration was a bit to fast. Xjump feel much.. softer. I also tried the other scroll mode, and it felt better. Still, something was different. And it look pretty bad with that scroll mode, so I changed back. I think I'll continue play xjump until I'm satisfied with the feeling of this game. Maybe I'm just used to xjump? However, great game. If you just could put more xjump-feeling in it I would gladly play it. Thanks.

That comment surprises me, because I putted lots of efforts on achieving the feeling of the original xjump game. Are you sure you set all xjump options, including framerate? Try to be a bit more detailed in your description on what goes wrong and I'll fix it for the next realease (which, I have to admit, won't iclude all the new features anounced at the webpage as I have very little time :( ). I thought that sdljump worked smoother than xjump :S. Anyways, thanx for your suggestions :)

I like GNUJump, but I have to agree, the feel is very different from xjump. Even with the settings changed to try to make it identical, something is very different. I'm not sure what exactly it is. Maybe the amount of movement you can get in the air at different speeds, or maybe the bounce off the walls? I don't know. It is definitely different though. One of the reasons I am certain is because in xjump I could fairly often break 350, but in GNUJump I have trouble breaking 200 regularly. Still, it's very well done game, so thanks for contributing it.

After writing that message earlier I felt compelled to try gnujump again. Although I remember having great difficulty in the past I immediately got a 427, so maybe the differences were either in my head, or have been resolved.
