Home page seem to be dead. Are there any other sources to get 2.1.6 from, or is this a temporary issue?

version 2.1.6 is out.
It fixes the crash due to non resolving leaderboard host.

There is no level editor for stormbaan coureur. Making a static world is pretty easy... I use wings3d to model it, and then export as 3ds. If you want the different obstacles in there... it gets trickier, I just placed them with hardcoded positions in the code.

I have slow frame rates too, and would like to test the PLODE_NO_SHADOWS=1 option, but I don't know where to put it. Can someone please explain me where to enter this line? I use the Lavish Edition 2.1.4. Also, will there be an options menu in future releases? Or a map editor? Or multiple standard maps?

You've reset the leaderboard again ?!
You have any idea how long it took me to do the 19.47s run ?
Why do I even bother...

I am sorry man, I did not do this on purpose. I host the leaderboard on my PC at home, and this PC crashed. I will see if I can make the leaderboard daemon write the board to disk every hour or so.

How on earth is a sub 20 run even possible? Could you put a video on youtube? I am interested to see how this works. I found a backup leaderboard though, I will restore it. I will reset the board when the tracks changes though.

Dropped you an email with few videos.

One can drive right through the ferris wheel. I think there's still plenty of room for improvement however. Atleast the rotating discs at the very end probably have a way to sneak past them faster than how I usually do it.

One thing I learned during Quake speed running (from other faster runners mainly) was that there's always a faster way of doing things. And even if there doesn't seem to be it's always possible to do the old thing faster than before...

This program seems to attempt to be a realistic phisics simulation rather than a fun game.

The world feels very unnatural (track floating in the void). The collision detection is a bit weird at times, I often ended embeded into objects.

  2.1.4 released posted by mazarax @ 24.82.168.39 on Apr 20 2008 6:38 PM
2.1.4 is released.
I dubbed it the 'Lavish Edition'.
It contains no new features of bug fixes.
It is mainly code clean up, and a new license.
From now on, the game uses GPL V3.

Hey,
Who is that Lavish character that shows up on the leaderboard?
He is on the board with 26 secs
I find that time hard to believe

It seems that a car's frame have a much more friction than tires. Also, a panic button would be useful in cases, then car is completley stuck in scenery. Nice game.

Version 2.1.3 has a panic button (escape goes to last save point).
Also, it detects getting stuck. and bumps you.
The tyres has different collision code compared to the frame. I agree that they need better tuning, but it is tricky.

Thanks for the report.
Please edit shaders/bramlight.fp
Replace the #if 0 with #if 1
This will disable PCF

I've put up a new verision 2.1.1 that addresses this issue.
You can experimenting with PCF by changing the #if value in bramlight.fp
