A great game with good use of OpenGL graphics. Good to see that it's still in active development with new features being added all the time. My only minor niggle is a lack of quality check in the levels or at least the ability to provide community scores so that the real trash can be filtered out. Outside of the "official" levels, there's very little in the community level stock that demonstrates any kind of inventiveness or intelligence in the level design, instead opting to go as silly, as impossible or as large as possible.

Wondering if someone could help. Have xmoto on my windows machine works fine. I want to put xmoto on my Gentoo linux box but don't know where to go after emerge xmoto. It says remember, in order to play games, you have to be in the games group. Just run gpasswd -a games, then have re-login. Im new to linux so anything will help thanks.

Just try running "xmoto" from the command-line as your user. If it doesn't run, you might not be part of the games group. In that case run the command (from the command-line) that emerge tells you to ("gpasswd -a games" or whatever) and then try running xmoto again.

Great game, but last time I played the bike sound was so so so weedy! Plus a kickstart mode would be excellent!

Great time with xmoto. But I can't see why accelerate doesn't work when you are upside down (?).

This just rocks. I just tried it out, and got hooked to it within minutes. It's easy to get the concepts, but takes time to master. Fedora only has an old version of it (0.3.x), so I only played that. But had no issues with it.

You should upgrade to version 0.4.x. There are so much new neat things!

I like this game a lot but some levels are very dificult and frustrating. Still I give it 5 stars.

Levels not suitable... posted by Anonymous @ 118.92.135.8 on Mar 30 2008 6:46 AM
Levels not suitable for children?? Are these levels that are just much too hard or have they started to add porn to this games? :p

From the changlog: "biker interact with world when dead" Presumably that death makes them unsuitable.

Some levels have unsuitable things in them for children, such as reproductive organs and perhaps profanity.

  Yay for remakes!! posted by alex@cafe16 @ 121.45.123.238 on Mar 3 2008 1:22 AM 55555
This takes me back! Kudos to whoever managed to so faithfully restore a long-lost favourite of mine!

To those who winge about the bike handling... GO PRACTICE SOME MORE!! Whatever's tripping you up, try it a different way. The controls may seem simple but the more you explore them, the more you realise how dynamic they are!

My only complaint... why are so many levels posted [auto-downloaded] that seem only half-baked? Nothin' worse than perfecting a challenging first-half of a level, only to fall thru an unfinished second-half! :@

Also, WELL DONE to the innovative level builders who have used clever techniques to provide different experiences, eg. pseudo-3D, funky gravitation FX, and morphing landscapes etc.

Thanks a lot... I can see myself getting weeks behind at work! :P

I remember playing something similar to this several years ago. Nice to see a version that runs on Linux. I won't become an obsessed player this time around, but will keep on dying through the levels every now and then.

I find something fun in X-Moto each time a run it, be it a level inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, collecting beers instead of strawberries with obvious consequences or a "skate" park. Simply great.

I agree that many levels are very neat, and I'd like to see more innovative and fun levels, and less insanely difficult levels. For some reason there has been an explosion of people making ridiculously difficult levels that just mock you. I am in doubt whether anyone can or has finished them, and no I don't trust the high score replays.
