I would appreciate it if someone changed the screenshot (i don't know how to do it myself). The old one is so... ugly.
Here's a nice one: https://sourceforge.net/dbimage.php?id=234912
Thanks in advance.

  openSUSE RPM package posted by PVince81 @ 116.227.229.28 on Aug 29 2009 4:33 PM 4444
Nice game ! It's been a long time I have been looking for an open source version of this kind of game.

An openSUSE package is available in the games repository.
You can also find it here: http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=ALL&p=1&q=zaz

Thank you very much! The next version will have 100% free as in freedom music, so adding it to various distros shouldn't be a problem.

Very cool! posted by Bob the Hamster @ 71.130.66.66 on Aug 25 2009 7:39 PM 55555

I like this very much! Yay!

I strongly wish for keyboard support so I could play with the arrow keys and spacebar, but even without that, I still give it five stars.

Also I had a problem where after approx 10 minutes of play it would drop me out of full-screen mode and freeze up until I switched to a virtual console and kill -9'ed it, but I am mostly certain that is a flaw with my video-card (lousy Intel i915) and similar things have happened with other OpenGL games, so probably not a zaz problem.

I experienced this kind of dropping out when I was running compiz.

  Still won't compile posted by nath @ 88.72.243.9 on Aug 25 2009 7:31 AM
It seems, the game authors system and Fedora 11 have different opinions on how ftgl works.

I wanted to see a game like this on linux (and hope that this is only the first of a series :P ) but cant make it works My problem is that all the images are white squares (can see that with the balls at the menu), the background is white too, can see only the thing that shoot balls, the rest is white, any idea why can happen that? (tried the latest playdeb version and compiling on kubuntu 9.04)

  A few updates on SVN posted by mal1ce @ 94.194.119.215 on Aug 24 2009 12:25 AM
dusted:Fixed in SVN. If it doesn't find the installed directory it reverts to ./data. Besides that I added lives (extra life every 10000 points), time in levels and a level browser. It will now let go off mouse while exporting video if not running fullscreen - that will let you do something else while waiting (the issue qubodup pointed out). I will release another tarball and win32 exe when I've made some more levels. Hopefully in a couple of days.

  I hate installs posted by dusted @ 77.68.146.169 on Aug 22 2009 10:24 PM 55555
Very enjoyable game, the graphics are excellent, it plays very smooth, and the concept of picking up a ball instead of being given a random one adds to the experience, I enjoyed the unmentionable game that this was based off, and this is a worthy implementation! :) So.. I give this 5 stars, but! IMO the binary should be able to run without installing: ./src/zaz I don't like having people throwing files all sorts of places in my filesystem, and I don't want to have to pass additional configure parameters to "install" it into one dir. It should try the defined datapath, then default to ./

Second on that, make install is like washing dishes when you have a dishwasher or maid.

Could use visual aim support (highlighting balls affected by next click or simply a line showing where the grapple hook aims at) and nicer backgrounds but otherwise cool. I *love* the video recording option!

I reviewed it a little (with gameplay vid):

I think you are the first to use a video in the comments to show off a game. Good idea.
Haven't got it to compile on my system so far. Configure runs through but make is missing some header file.

The game actually has a line to target like that but it's a powerup you have to earn by clearing the right special ball.
