bastet Screenshot bastard tetris (sends in the worst block possible)

"For people who enjoy swearing at their computer, Bastet (short for Bastard Tetris) is an attractive alternative to Microsoft Word." (taken from http://hublog.hubmed.org)

Have you ever thought Tetris(R) was evil because it wouldn't send you that straight "I" brick you needed in order to clear four rows at the same time? Well Tetris(R) probably isn't evil, but Bastet certainly is. >:-) Bastet stands for "bastard tetris", and is a simple ncurses-based Tetris(R) clone for Linux. Unlike normal Tetris(R), however, Bastet does not choose your next brick at random. Instead, Bastet uses a special algorithm designed to choose the worst brick possible. As you can imagine, playing Bastet can be a very frustrating experience!

It's funny when people talk to themselves like this. You should probably get that keyboard looked at too, seems kinda broken with the Caps Lock I think.

THANKS, HappyPenguin Moderators! posted by denor @ 98.204.46.201 on Mar 14 2008 9:12 PM

Wow!

I guess I'll just wait until a moderator comes by and cleans this up. Oh, wait moderating comments would be another step away from the freedom this site has always had, that's right. Thanks, HP admins, I sure am glad that you're granting all these jackasses the freedom to ruin my favorite linux gaming site.

Great Game! On a multiuser system you can make it even better by changing EXNAME in the Makefile to "tetris", and telling everyone you've installed a new game...

how to trick the algorithm posted by Anonymous @ 83.250.200.185 on Apr 27 2005 3:03 PM
As the author of the program stated, the algorithm is based on a "topmost profile analysis".

Here's the trick:
Build a tall tower to the left wall
Put out a horizontal roof from the tower on the left over to the right leaving the 2 rightmost cells empty.
Now you are free to do what ever you feel below the roof. Just let the tetriminos drop down below to the right (in the hole of the roof). You will get seemingly random tetriminos like in ordirary tetris.

I've taken 2 tetrises (4-liners) in one game and up to 17 lines.

Nicely done - haven't sworn and laughed at a game as much as when playing this for a long time.
