I also had some problems, on Ubuntu 09.10. On running jgamebase.sh I got the complaint about missing database though I had it in /home/myname/.jdatabase, and then it was deleted! At least I'm 99% sure, but it *is* possible that I confused /home/myname/.jdatabase with /home/myname/Desktop/jdatabase. Anyway, after unpacking the database (C64lite), it worked. Seems very promising. If it's good enough to replace GB64, only Civ4 and MS Paint will prevent me from removing Windows.

I meant to write: unpacking for the 3rd time. I didn't forget it the first time when it couldn't be found.

The software wouldn't start after 3 tries in Ubuntu 9.04. First it complained about the splash screen option being invalid when I ran the startup script. I tried putting the splash screen in the main folder and modifying the script, but still no luck.

Next I decided to just double-click the .jar file. It complained about no database, which I did indeed miss on the installation page. So then I put the database into my home folder, which I *loathe* doing. I hate cluttering up my home folder. With that working, it...

threw an exception. Forgive me for not filing a bug. I'm just too frustrated to use the SourceForge bug tracker at the moment. :( Sigh

Hi Maruchan,

I'm the author of jGameBase - sorry that your experience was so bad.
I just checked - I don't get problems ;-). I use SUN JDK 1.6 and OpenJDK - which version of Java do you use?

Even if you are frustrated (sorry again...) I would ask you to file a bug report - how am I to solve the problem if I don't know the exact circumstances?
I hope you will give jGameBase another chance.

Kind regards,
Frank.
