Description, please! posted by Irrevenant @ 203.113.234.234 on Jul 25 2010 5:37 AM
Would you please be so kind as to use a description for this game that doesn't assume we're familiar with Crimsonland?

Thanks.

I would like to request an option to set the controls in game. I have a dvorak keyboard so WASD doesn't work for me, and I hate changing it in the source code every time.

Now that goes out to all you people who are requestimng things such as please be like GTA and please don't make weapon spawn random.
Blahblahblahblah.

What you unfortunately do not realize is that this game is quite clearly and quite obviously DIRECTLY influenced by Crimsonland.
A very popular and very awesome game. Loads n loads n loads of fun.
Sorry but GTA has nothing on Crimsonland in terms of gameplay.

The first screenie I saw of this game I knew before I ever enlarged it where its influences lay.

So, got news for you. It has no intention of being GTA. Nor of not having random weapon spawns.

Do yourselves a favor and go learn more about one of the coolest games ever made.

Crimsonland

And in case you are wondering this style of game is hardly unique to Crimsonland alone. Think Smash TV for starters.

  Good soundtrack! posted by psymin @ 12.32.45.18 on Nov 17 2009 4:03 PM 4444
The game doesn't have a finished feel to it, but it is certainly on the right path! Does anyone know who created the .ogg files for the soundtrack? They sound quite familiar.

Very simple, yet entertaining. However as a simple game, it's a good example of how an SDL / OpenGL game's code should look like.

I have some recommendations to make:

1) Don't just spawn weapons randomly off the list, maybe put an order to their spawning. So weapons at the top of the weapons list have a higher chance of spawning than weapons lower on the list.
2) I dislike the auto pickup weapons feature. I'm using an AK and all of a sudden, I pick up a pm and then proceed to die.
3) Weapons should have ammo. That would make more sense than keeping an AK for the whole game.
4) Add a minigun, actually I added my own, but it's hard to find a picture that is not copyrighted. If you want I'll list the specs.
